At Bookworld.ie, we make it easy for you to pass on your pre-loved books. Whether your books are in great condition or a little too well-read, we’ll ensure they’re either re-homed or recycled responsibly.
If your books are in good enough condition to be resold, we’ll issue a Bookworld.ie voucher worth €0.50 per book. Books that don’t meet our quality standards will be recycled in an eco-friendly way.
How It Works
1) Place your Recycle & Re-Home order (free of charge) through our website checkout.
2) You'll receive a unique order number
3) Once your box(es) are packed, you can book a collection or drop them off at your local post office.
To arrange delivery via An Post:
- Go to An Post's Returns portal
- In the "Find a retailer" search bar, type "Bookworld.ie"
- Select "Other" as the reason for return
- Enter your order number from checkout
- Finalise your return
Important Info:
- You may send multiple boxes using the same order number
- Collection from your address costs €6 per box (Max 20kg)
- Drop-off at the post office is €4.95 per box (Max 20kg)
- Each accepted book earns €0.50 in Bookworld.ie credit
- Requesting this service does not obligate you to send books
- After we process your box, you’ll receive your voucher by email
- Boxes without an order number cannot be processed for payment
Packing Guidelines
✅ Use strong, sturdy cardboard boxes (no bags)
✅ Ensure books are securely packed – no loose items inside
✅ Avoid overstuffing or underpacking (boxes must hold shape)
✅ Seal boxes with durable tape suitable for shipping
✅ Label each box clearly with your order number
✅ Max weight per box: 20kg
👉 Tip: Use a kitchen scale to weigh batches of books for accuracy
What We Cannot Accept for Payment:
Books that are damaged will not be eligible for vouchers and will be recycled instead. This includes:
- Water damage
- Torn pages or covers
- Excessive writing/highlighting
- Missing pages or dust jackets
- Cracked or broken spines
- Heavily discoloured pages
Books will be inspected manually when they arrive. Unfortunately, we cannot return any books that don’t meet resale standards, but we will ensure they are disposed of responsibly.
How Many Books Fit in a 20kg Box?
As a general guide:
📚 20kg = ~60 paperbacks or ~50 large-format books (paperback/hardback)
📏 Use a kitchen scale to weigh in 4–5kg batches for convenience.
